Question

I have a question on how to be a Christian women witness. Is a women restricted on who she can witness too? Also, does witness refer to just your testimony? Where is the fine line drawn between speaking to friends on their choices that they have made and becoming too judgmental? Examples: Divorce and gay issues

Answer

First, most of the examples of evangelism that we have in the New Testament focus on men, especially the apostles and their activates. However, there are indications in the New Testament that both men and women should be involved in reaching out to those who are lost.

Generally speaking, Jesus commanded that all dirigibles should teach others what they need to do to become Christians and beyond that , how they should grow after becoming a Christian. Matt. 28:18-20. In order for one to learn the gospel, we do not have to be taught by some church official.

Beside this, we do have an example of a woman who helped teach a disciple more completely about what it meant to be a Christian. This is the case of Priscilla and Aquila. Acts 18:24-28. the inference is, they both helped in teaching Apollos in what he needed to know about Jesus.

However, although women are not restricted in reaching out to others, there should be a caution given as far as public teaching. We do not have any example given of women actively teaching the lost in a public way. Also, when it comes to women teaching in a church situation, it is clear that women should take care not to take authority over Christian men. 1 Tim. 2:11-15.

As relating to her testimony or witness, we must always desire to present the true facts of the gospel rather than our personal stories. Although our stories may illustrate and encourage, they should not be used as a substitute for the plain teaching of the gospel. Acts 2:22-42, John 20:30-31.

Finally, as to being judgmental with friends, Peter in speaking to the Jews called them murderers because they had participated in the crucifixions of Jesus. We call attention to sin, not to personally attack people, but to encourage them to turn from it and do what is right. Doing that is their choice to make.
