Jesus’ Parable of The Persistent Widow

Preacher: Gary Hunt | Series: The Parables of Jesus

One day Jesus taught two parables on prayer, one to show that we should always humbly seek God’s gracious mercy knowing we are sinners before Him instead of trusting in our own perfect obedience to His Word. The other was about a persistent persecuted widow who continually pleaded to an unrighteous judge to give her legal relief from her adversary. Although he had not ethics, he finally gave in and ruled in her favor so he could get rid of her annoying requests. Jesus taught this parable to show that His children ought to always continue to pray especially when they are persecuted because one day, in His time, God will avenge them against their enemies. Do we pray persistently or do we give up praying because He does not answer us as quickly as we desire?
