In Luke 16:1-8, Jesus tells probably one of His most difficult parables, earth comparison presenting a spiritual lesson about His kingdom, today His church, body of saved people. Here an unrighteous manager or steward is praised for wisely reducing the debts of those who owed his master. His master was about to fire him for misusing his possessions. So, he sought to befriend others, his master’s debtors, who might hire him after his dismissal. Jesus praises him for his shrewdness, his wisdom and tells his disciples to act wisely in regard to material things now so they may one day inherit eternal life. How exactly are we to apply this today in a world gone mad with the pursuit and use of material things above serving God?
