Lead Or Feed
In John chapter 6, we read an extended account of Jesus performing the miracle of feeding 5,000 men plus women and children with two fish and five loaves of bread. His miracle was not primarily for the reason to feed the people but to prove Himself to be the Son of God, the Bread of Life. After He feeds them, He sends them and His disciples away and goes to the mountain alone to pray. In the night He walks on the water finding His fearful disciples who are afraid of the raging storm and not knowing who He was. As He enters the boat, the storm stops. That day, the crowd who followed Him receives an extended lesson from Jesus about them seeking Him in order to be led by Him, not fed by Him. He is the Bread of Life which is a spiritual food, His Word, that is eaten only by believing In Him and obeying His Words, not try to remake Him into a king that provides all our physical desires in this life. How do we view Jesus and how are we responding to Him today, as He is or as we want Him to be?
