Philippians BC4 conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ1 2
In Philippians 1:27-30, Paul writes the church that they should behave in a manner worthy of the gospel. Even though they were Roman citizens, they were foremost citizens in Heaven, governed by Jesus’ authority. To do this, their minds must be renewed and transformed by the gospel continually putting off the old self and putting on the new, a learning process that is life long to become conformed to the image of Jesus. Although they would be persecuted for their righteous life, they should rejoice knowing if they are faithful they will be eternally rewarded while the persecutors would be eternally punished unless they repent. Not only believing in Jesus is a privilege but suffering for Him is one also. When the laws of man conflict with God, we must obey God rather than men.
