In Philippians 2:1-11, Paul commands we are to have the attitude within our selves displayed by Christ so we may serve God, being unified with Him and with one another. To do this, we must have as our source of unity, the apostles’ teaching, the gospel, revealed in the New Testament. We must also have humility of mind, putting the will of God and others before self. Jesus, who left the glory of heaven, became a man, a bond-slave and died the cruel death on the cross for us shows this humble unselfish attitude we are to imitate. In doing so, one day we will be exalted by God in eternal glory.
