The Rich Man and Lazarus

Many debate whether this story is one of Jesus’ parables. Unlike the parables, Jesus identifies specific persons by name in this story. He also teaches much about life after death in this story. Whether it is a parable or not, we need to learn the main point of this story. That is, we need to listen to and obey the Word of God now so we may be comforted after death instead of tormentd. Once our eternal destiny is set after death, it cannot be changed. We can never become a Christian by the Sinner’s prayer but through obedience to the gospel, believing in Jesus enough to repent of our sins, confess Him as the Son of God and be baptized (immersed in water) for the forgiveness of sins. The dead continue to live but the question is, where will we be, comfort or torment?
