The Sermon On The Mount v2 2 The Beatitudes kingdom character 3
To begin His Sermon on The Mount, Jesus defines the character people must have to enter His kingdom. In all He reveals eight attitudes, often called the beatitudes, that one must possess that reflect the righteous character of kingdom citizens, character that God demands, produces by His gospel and approves lading to eternal life. The attitudes are the opposite of what the world approves. We must be among others, poor in spirit, humble beggars before God seeking His mercy according to His word, His terms of pardon. We must mourn grieve over our sins knowing they are rebellious acts against a holy and loving God. Let us sty all eight of these attitudes so we may be among those who enter His kingdom now and look forward to its heavenly continuation in eternity.
