Why Do Christians Fall Away From Jesus?
When someone is baptized into Christ, receives forgiveness of their sins through faith in Christ, we rejoice greatly along with the angels in heaven over the saving of a lost soul by the grace of God. However, too often, eventually over time, many Christians fall away from Jesus turning back to the world that they once renounced, denying Him whom they once loved. How does this happen? Although many deny that it can happen to a Christian, we see in the case of the apostle Peter that it can happen to one of Jesus’ most loyal followers. How? It begins and progresses with Peter raising his interests, his will, above Jesus’ interests and will, could not accept Jesus as a dying savior. It ends with Peter denying that he knows Jesus tree times the night Jesus was arrested. But, thankfully, Peter, and we, can be restored back to Jesus if we are willing to turn from our sins, confess and pray for the Lord’s mercy. This is what Peter did, even more than once, over time. This is what we must continue to do that we may walk in the light, truth, by His grace, each day.
