About Central Brooklyn church of Christ
The Central Brooklyn church of Christ is composed of a group of believers in Jesus Christ who want to simply be Christians without denominational names, teachings, practices and affiliations. We’re sincerely striving to pattern ourselves to be like the church you read about in the New Testament—the church of Christ, one belonging to Him. To do this, we believe we must adhere to the apostles’ teaching set forth in the New Testament rather than the creeds and traditions of men which cannot be confirmed by the Scriptures. In the apostles’ teaching, we have Divine authority for how a local church should be organized, worship and work together. We reject all attempts to make a local church an entertainment or recreational promoter. In their teaching, we also have everything we need to know how to live our daily lives as a Christian.
Act2:42 They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
From the New Testament, we learn how to become a Christian by believing in Jesus to the point of repenting of our sins, confessing Jesus to be the Son of God and being baptized (immersed in water) for the forgiveness of our sins. When we do this, God not only forgives us of our sins by the blood of Jesus But Jesus also adds us to His one church, His saved body of people.
Mat26:28 for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins.

The New Testament reveals 3 purposes for which a local church is to work.
1. Edification (building up) of members by the Word of God including worshiping in Spirit and in Truth and teaching of Bible classes to help members grow in living the Christian life in and out of our assemblies.
Act20:7 On the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread, Paul began talking to them, intending to leave the next day, and he prolonged his message until midnight.
Mat26:26 While they were eating, Jesus took some bread, and after a blessing, He broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.”
Mat 26:27 And when He had taken a cup and given thanks,He gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you;
Mat26:28 for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins.
Mat26:29 “But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom.”
Act12:5 So Peter was kept in the prison,but prayer for him was being made fervently by the church to God.

Eph4:16 from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.

2.Evangelism (spreading the gospel to the lost).

3.Benevolence (helping those in need first among local church members and then other Christians in other local churches who are in need).

We do not pretend to have all the answers, but we do believe that all the answers are in the Word of God. . We also believe we must search the scriptures daily to see if these things are so as the people of Berea did. By reverencing God and reverently studying His Word, we can find and follow the Truth He has given to us that He might be glorified above all.
