Are Christians authorized to drink alcoholic beverages? If so, under what conditions may they do so? There is much confusion on this topic and much of this is caused by wrongly assuming that every time the word wine is used in the bible it means alcoholic beverage. Also, confusion is caused by the popular definition of sober and reading that definition into the Bible definition. In the Old Testament, Wine was described as a blessing from God and also something that was forbidden by God. Did Jesus turn water into alcoholic wine? What does the New Testament teach about how we are to approach alcoholic beverages as well as other drugs? Let us humbly and honestly study these lessons that we may do His will above all to His glory.
