Many wrongly teach today that all must be baptized with the Holy Spirit if they are to be saved. They view baptism with the Holy Spirit as a command to be obeyed rather than a promise. They tell us that speaking in tongues in a proof that one has been baptized with the Holy Spirit. In this lesson, we study what the baptism of the Holy Spirit is, to whom was it promised, when did it occur and what was its purpose. We also will study other associated promises Jesus made about the Holy Spirit to His apostles. Confusion comes when we believe we are a part of the process of revealing and confirming the New Testament rather than receiving the benefits of the gospel which include salvation. The New Testament has been completely revealed and confirmed by miracles. Therefore, there is no more revealing and confirming done today by the Holy Spirit.
