Overcoming Disappointments
What happens when things do not go our way in this life. We have disappointments relating to family, the church, health, finances and more. Do we grow stronger in faith or do we become weaker in faith even to the point of abandoning Christ? In spite of Paul’s imprisonment in Rome, his commitment to and faith in Christ was strong. He looked at the good God was bringing out of his troubles had meant the gospel was spreading. Paul was still preaching chained to roman guards. The brethren outside of prison were encouraged to speak the gospel. Souls were being saved even some of Caesar’s household. Whether Paul lived or died, his main concern was exalting Christ in his body. Serving Christ and others in this life was good but death, being with Christ, was better. We too can overcome disappointments if we live for Christ above all. Let us study Philippians 1:12-26 so we can learn to rejoice in all circumstances.
