The night before He died for the sins of the world, Jesus prayed for Himself, His apostles and those who would believe in Him through their Word. Jesus is perfectly unified with God in nature and belief and purpose. He prayed for His apostles to be unified upon His Word given by the Father. He also prayed for believers including Christians today to be unified as He and His Father are unified. The standard for unity is the apostles’ teaching. We are to be unified in belief and practice. Why is there so much division today among Christians? How can His church be unified? Who will enforce the unity among local churches today?
