As Christians, we are to live in or by the Spirit producing, with God’s help, the fruit of the Spirit, the Holy Spirit. In order to do this, we, with God’s help, must first crucify, put to death, the deeds, works of the flesh. These are sinful attitudes and actions that, if we continue to practice them, we cannot inherit the kingdom of God. How do we as Christians identify the deeds of the flesh, learned sinful corrupt self, so that we may crucify them in order to bear the fruit of the Spirit. Although these sins are common in society and readily accepted, we as Christians must recognize them as sinful, displeasing to God and although painful, be willing, with God’s help, to put them to death. Let us study each of these deeds of the flesh that Paul lists in Galatians 5:19-21.
