The answer to this question first has to do with me wanting to be saved by Jesus in the way he commands all to do. I found that I could not be saved by the Sinner’s Prayer or a miraculous visit by the Holy Spirit. But when reading the New Testament, I found Jesus saves all who believe and trust in Him enough to repent of their sins, confess Him to be the Son of God and are baptized (immersed in water) for the forgiveness of their sins. I also found the New Testament teaches that when jesus saves us, He adds us to His one church His saved boday of people. He does not add us to a humanly devised denomination or some type of institution.
