you were made sorrowful to the point of repentance
One of the vital commands we must obey to both become and continue to live as a Christian is we must repent of our sins. In or to repent, change our minds and turn from sin to God, we must experience godly sorrow. We must look at sin the way God does, seeing our offense against a holy, loving God is evil in His sight and separates us from Him. Focusing on God and our sin against Him rather than ourselves, we then can repent, seek His mercy, joyously obeying His will again. Unlike worldly sorrow that focuses on self and the consequences of sin to us, godly sorrow leads to salvation instead of spiritual death. Let us study 2 Corinthians 7:8-11 to see how these two sorrows produce different results, one leading to soul-saving repentance and the other lead to soul-condemning death, separation from God.
