The Church 7 Organization and Work of A Local Church 4
Preacher: Gary Hunt | Series: The Church
It is common in denominations for local churches to work together as “one” through some centralized organization. Most well known example is the Roman Catholic church. Even among churches of Christ, to some degree, local churches have centralized various works working through either sponsoring local churches or humanly devised institutions. But, the Lord through the apostles’ teaching has revealed each local church is to have only local oversight and local treasury to do its work. Also, many churches of Christ have added entertainment, recreation and secular education to the work of a local church. But, the New Testament reveals only 9 things a local church is authorized to do and none of these added works is mentioned. Let us explore the organization and work of a local church and be busy doing the things God has authorized a local church to do while rejecting what He does not authorize.
