Paul write the Philippian letter while under house arrest in Rome waiting for the decision from Caesar whether he would be released or executed. He writes a letter of joy based on commitment to Christ under all conditions of life. Paul, the other apostles and other inspired men labored to preach the gospel and write the New Testament. But, although guided by the Holy Spirit in writing and speaking the gospel, they needed help to spread the gospel and edify the churches. They needed men who had the mind of Christ, were genuinely lovingly concerned about the spiritual and physical welfare of brethren and willing to risk their lives to do this service if necessary. Among them were Timothy and Epaphroditus. We look at these two humble servants of Christ to encourage us to have the mind of Christ in serving God and others today.
