Institutionalism is the name given to an error that is commonly practiced by many denominations as well as a majority of churches of Christ. It is the belief the universal church is composed of local churches and has collective work that it must do through centralized means such as social institutions and sponsoring churches. It results in the perversion of the organization and work of a local church. What are the underlying errors and some examples. What are the Scriptural truths that refute this error?
