Errors of The Pharisees v2 Self-righteousness
The Pharisees, in contrast to the Sadducees were the most strict of the Jewish religious parties. They sought to follow closely the Law of Moses as they understood it. However their zeal for wanting to know and follow only the Truth led them to be self-righteous. They viewed themselves as having perfect knowledge and obedience and depended very little on the mercy of God to be saved. They viewed those who deviated from their standard as inferior, condemned before God. We study their error so we can overcome it and avoid it. We must always trust in the mercy of God to save us as we strive to follow all of his will.
